St Michaels Church History
St Michael’s has now published, with coloured illustrations, a booklet about itself past and present. Thomas a Becket’s murder was within living memory when the first rector was appointed, all the rectors since are listed with references to the history in their time of the wider church and world and with notes also of parochial matters, such as the rector who was prosecuted for having five unringed pigs and the dissentions that led to the establishment locally of the Baptist Church. You will find information about the structure ,changes, and origins of the building and its parts including its windows, bells, clock and ancient brasses and its more recent memorials. There is a chapter devoted to the monuments that can be seen in the Bedford Chapel.
The booklet is available in the church price £3.00 or by post £4.00. to U.K. addresses and £4.50 world wide inclusive of postage and packing.
Please contact the Parish Office on 01494 762233
